Day 10: ‘fractious circumlocution’

Fractious?
Sir, come
low cues shun. Say
not the two word kick
in the gut, do not cut
to the chase and blaze.

It’s true
long words don’t run
like a sword through the neck
of bumpf. Still, sir
once said, there
can be no take back.

It’s a heart attack, you say
What fool wastes time
in the life and death crux?
Show off your big words?
Yammer myocardial infarction in the field?
And you will next learn
to call a spade.
A spade.

This year, I’ve challenged myself to use the prompt given as title for my poem, every day.
