I’m in Frankfurt this week, wobbling astonished around the world’s biggest Bookfair, and I can’t help hoping that there will be doors that open here, through which Humane might prowl, and meet audiences as yet unknown, translated into some of the many languages in which humans explore what it means to be human, what it matters to be humane.
